How the Holy Spirit Assures You

Sometimes it feels like God lets the pieces of my life fall where they may—chance seems to rule the world more than God’s omnipotence. And I begin to wonder if I really matter. Can my life really make a difference?

Have you ever questioned your significance? Your calling? Purpose?

One of the six ways the Holy Spirit reveals himself to believers is by giving us assurance.

Hebrews 11:1 tells us faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.

I wish I could always feel confident in my faith—confident in the things I hope for but can’t see. But sometimes cloudy circumstances fog up my view. In times like these, I need assurance.

Assurance means my heart can remain calm when things don’t seem to be working out. God promises to give every Christian the gift of the Holy Spirit. We have the power of the Holy Spirit working in our lives.

The Holy Spirit lives inside every Christian. The Holy Spirit assures us of who we are and whose we are. Click To Tweet

Are you discouraged? The Holy Spirit speaks truth to your deflated spirit. He testifies and gives witness to God’s divine plan for your life.

Jesus came to earth to die for our sins. After the resurrection, Jesus ascended to Heaven. But he didn’t leave his children on earth alone. He sent the Holy Spirit to live within us.

“The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children” (Romans 8:16).

When the Holy Spirit affirms us with biblical truth, we subjectively sense eternity in our hearts. The limited perception of our life begins to expand until we see life through spiritual eyes. We may not understand our circumstances. The big whys of life are still left unanswered. But deep inside, we know it to be true—God is real. So we find rest in knowing God sees the bigger picture. He is with us.

He is our Helper. The Holy Spirit purifies us, empowers us, assures us, and guides our steps. Our life is not directed by chance. It’s not led off the path by bad luck.

So I can take a deep breath in and slowly exhale peace no matter what happens.

When it feels like my plans are falling apart, I can be confident because “The Lord will work out his plans for my life” (Psalm 138:8 NLT). Click To Tweet

Does it ever feel like life is ruled by chance rather than God's omnipotence? This post explores how the Holy Spirit assures us of the Lord's guidance and purpose for our lives.

If you are doing your best to follow Jesus and live your life for him, then you can be confident.

God hears your cry (Psalm 34:15). When you tell God your worries he will sustain you (Psalm 55:22).

The one who keeps God’s commands lives in him, and he in them. And this is how we know that he lives in us: We know it by the Spirit he gave us” 1 John 3:24 (NIV).

If we love God, we will love what God loves. And guess what? God loves you! He hasn’t forgotten you. He knows what’s going on in your life. And when you share Christ’s love with others, then you give witness to the Holy Spirit working inside you.

When our hearts twist the truth of who God is and who we are in Him, then the Holy Spirit rushes in, and releases his power against the lies that war within us.

“By this we shall know that we are of the truth and reassure our heart before him, for whenever our heart condemns us, God is greater than our heart, and he knows everything” 1 John 3:19-20 (ESV).

God is greater than our circumstances. Greater than our fear. Greater than our weakness. Click To Tweet

One of the best ways to hear from the Holy Spirit is to read the Bible. If you need some extra assurance, read 1 John, which shares about God’s great love for you.

Do you need prayer? God also affirms us through the power of prayer. You can leave your prayer request in the comments. I would love to pray for you.
