I’ve been a Christian since I was seven-years-old, but it wasn’t until about five years ago, I realized the spirit of fear had a hold on me. So I decided to face my fears and fight. The power of the Holy Spirit helped me find freedom and gave me the courage to face my fears when I was afraid.
I began to discern the Holy Spirit’s voice speaking to me, guiding me, and giving me strength when I felt weak.
I searched the Bible to learn more about the indwelling presence of the Holy Spirit. When I saw Daniel Henderson’s book, Transforming Presence: How the Holy Spirit Changes Everything-From the Inside Out, I knew I wanted to read it. Henderson was the pastor of my home church during my high-school and college years.
His book helped me understand how a new covenant mindset helps us view the work of the Holy Spirit in a biblically accurate way.
Jesus told the disciples in the Upper Room that he was going to be put to death. The disciples were distraught and couldn’t imagine being without Jesus. Jesus explained it was best for him to go so that the Holy Spirit could fill them and empower them to preach the gospel.
The new covenant means the spirit of God lives inside every believer instead of being constrained in a human body, being in one place at a time.
“Nevertheless, I tell you the truth: it is to your advantage that I go away, for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you. But if I go, I will send him to you.” John 16:7 ESV
Every believer is filled with the Holy Spirit. The purpose of the Holy Spirit is to glorify Christ.
The Holy Spirit was given to glorify Jesus in our hearts, minds, and actions; in our homes and relationships; in our service, fellowship, and worship in His church. #Transforming Presence Share on X.
“We do not need to summon or invite the Holy Spirit as if there is some “outside-in” effect that we must seek. No, the work of the Spirit is an “inside-out” power and promise that transforms us from glory to glory.”
Once I was recognized how fear controlled my life, I realized the spirit of fear prevented the Spirit of Freedom (the Holy Spirit) from working in me to fulfill God’s purpose for my life.
Transforming Presence: How the Holy Spirit Changes Everything-From the Inside Out affirms the fact that every believer is already filled with the Holy Spirit because of the work of Christ on the cross.
Each chapter shares a practice that will help you experience the power of the Holy Spirit transforming you from the inside-out.
Our obligation as disciples and our privilege under the new covenant is to fully embrace and experience the promise of His indwelling. Share on X
“Instead of anticipating what the Holy Spirit might do to us, we would do well do focus on what Spirit is wanting to do in us.”
This is an excellent book that will help every believer claim the power they already have living inside of them. Transforming Presence inspires you to yield to the power of the Holy Spirit and fulfill God’s divine purpose for your life.
I received a free copy of this book from the publisher in exchange for my honest review.
