God Is My Hiding Place is a collection of forty daily devotionals based on the writings and experiences of Corrie Ten Boom. With her courageous family, Corrie Ten Boom  sheltered Jews from the Nazis during World War II. She wrote about her imprisonment and the suffering she endured in concentration camps in her best selling book, The Hiding Place. This devotional draws from her writings and inspires you to trust in God through the darkest times in life.

Corrie Ten Boom started helping the Jews when she was 51 years old. She shares how we are never too old to start something new in obedience to God.

At 51 years of age, although I had no knowledge of how to lead an operation that housed and protected Jews, God called me anyway. He did not think I was too old to start something new and important. He only looked at my heart. When we are willing and obedient, He bestows upon us the wisdom, strength, and courage of heaven. We are never too old to begin something new when we do it with Him.

Each topic of the day addresses a need like dealing with anxiety, temptation, loneliness, worry, and frustration. The devotion starts with a Bible verse, shares a heartfelt testimony from Corrie Ten Boom’s life experiences, and ends with an honest prayer.

God is My Hiding Place is a collection of forty daily devotionals based on the writings and experiences of Corrie Ten Boom.

Corrie Ten Boom writes from the heart  with honesty and vulnerability.  She shares her struggles and thoughts as she processes her hardships and learned to trust in God through them.

There is no pit so deep that the love of Jesus Christ is not deeper still.

The depth of Corrie Ten Boom’s faith is inspiring, as she sought the Lord during unimaginable hardships. She spent four months in solitary confinement listening to the cries of people being tortured and wondered if she was next. One day she saw an ant go into a hole in the wall and felt the Lord telling her that He was to be her hiding place.

Corrie, don’t look at your faith; it is weak, like the tiny feet of that ant. Don’t dwell on the treatment you might receive from these cruel people. I am your hiding place, and you can come running to Me just like that ant disappeared into the hole in the wall.

I have learned that forgiveness is the key that unlocks the door of resentment and the handcuffs of hatred. It is a power that breaks the chains of bitterness and the shackles of selfishness. When we become imprisoned within ourselves, Jesus holds the answer. When we get ourself off our minds and turn our hearts to Jesus, He gives us the precise key we need to open our locked souls and set us free.

When worry and fear are on the throne, we are not an open channel for streams of living water. It is impossible to listen to the Lord’s voice while listening to our own fear.

There are a handful of devotionals I keep on my shelf forever. This is one of them.

I received a free copy of this book from the pubisher in exchange for my honest review.
