One of the greatest blessings of being a writer is seeing friends whom I love and respect publish books. My friend Melanie Redd wrote a devotional for teen girls titled Live in Light.

Melanie has been encouraging girls and women in ministry for decades and her mentoring heart shines through in every page of this book.

“Let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16

“Let this book help you look for the light.”

These 5-minute-devotions, share stories teens can relate to about crushes, academic stress, friendships, dating and navigating the pressures of social media. The topics connect biblical truth to everyday life and encourage teens to reflect upon how to apply scripture.

Live in Light: 5-Minute Devotions for Teen Girls, connects biblical truth to everyday life and encourages teens to reflect upon applying scripture to their life.

My family is busy! I have four kids involved in soccer, band, and drama. At the end of the day we are usually pretty exhausted. I’ve been wanting to connect with my kids on a spiritual level and had been missing the devotion times we had in the past.

When Melanie’s book arrived in the mail, I thought it was a perfect way to spend time with them and read a short devotion together. I love the discussion questions at the end and was able to have some good conversations with my kids.

This devotion about the fear of missing out was perfect for my 15-year-old who was feeling stressed about passing her permit test so she can start driving.

“As a human race, we have a lot of fears in common: the fear of pain, the fear of loneliness, the worry that we’ll miss out. Then there are the “what if?” category. What if I never learn to drive? What if they don’t like me? What if I don’t get into college? What if everyone is hanging out without me?”

This would be a great book for teens to read on their own time since the book is designed to be quick, go-to devotions that are engaging and easy to read.

The book goes on sale on April 9th. The publisher offered to send a free copy! Enter the giveaway below ( only USA entries please). You can also order a book on Amazon.
